The 7 Best Awario Alternatives in 2026, Compared by Job

The 7 best Awario alternatives in 2026, compared by job: why teams leave over noise and coverage, where research fits, and which alert tools cost less.

The best Awario alternative in 2026 is buzzabout, because most teams that outgrow Awario do not need more alerts. They need fewer, better answers: what customers complain about, what they ask for, and what to make next.

The two do different jobs. Awario is keyword monitoring: it finds posts that contain your words and counts them. buzzabout is a social media research platform. It extracts what the conversation means: pain points, objections and the audience's own words.

So this guide sorts the field by job. One tool here does research. Six do alerts, and four of those cost less than Awario's monthly price, or nothing at all. Prices and limits come from vendor pages in October 2026.

Awario is a fine tripwire#

Awario watches keywords across X, Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, news, blogs, forums and the open web, and drops each match into a feed. Its promise is to make you "the first to know when important conversations spark out online" (vendor site, October 2026).

Awario says it launched in 2015 as a side project of the company behind SEO PowerSuite, and now serves 6,000+ customers (vendor site, October 2026). Aleh Barysevich is founder and CMO of the companies behind both products (Entrepreneur).

Awario in October 2026: what you would be replacing#

Starter costs $49 a month, or $29 a month billed yearly. It covers 3 topics with unlimited keywords each, 30,000 new mentions a month, 5,000 stored mentions per topic, and 1 user (vendor site, October 2026).

Pro is $149 ($89 yearly) for 15 topics and 10 users. Enterprise is $399 ($249 yearly) for 100 topics. Boolean search comes with every plan, and the 7-day trial needs no credit card. From some locations the page shows the same figures in pounds (vendor site, October 2026).

Reviewers praise the low price and the simple interface. Awario holds 3.9 out of 5 from 48 reviews on G2 and 4.2 from 18 reviews on Trustpilot.

Pros

  • $29 a month on yearly billing for 3 topics
  • Unlimited keywords per topic; Boolean search on every plan
  • News, blogs, forums and the open web beside social
  • Reply to X, Facebook and YouTube mentions from the app

Cons

  • No TikTok or LinkedIn coverage
  • X history only 7 days back, per its own FAQ
  • Facebook and Instagram limited to connected pages, tags and hashtags
  • Every view starts from the keywords you chose
  • CSV export starts on Pro, per its pricing FAQ

Why teams leave Awario: noise and coverage gaps#

Two complaints recur in Awario's reviews: results nobody wanted, and platforms it cannot see. Noise is built into keyword alerts, so a newer alert tool only partly fixes it. Coverage is a vendor choice, and some alert tools list more platforms.

Noise: a match is not a meaning#

A keyword alert collects every post that contains your words. Brand names that are also common words match strangers' posts, and the feed fills with them.

"Even if you add specific keywords, it yields irrelevant outcomes."

G2 reviewer on Awario, March 21, 2024

Awario's help center treats this as normal and hands the fix to you. Add negative keywords, blacklist noisy accounts, then rewrite the query. Its own example is a furniture brand that shares a name with a pizza restaurant (vendor site, October 2026).

Noise also spends quota. When an alert reaches its stored-mention cap, Awario pauses collection for 24 hours, then replaces the oldest mentions. Replaced and deleted mentions still count toward the monthly limit (vendor site, October 2026).

Coverage: what Awario can see, platform by platform#

Awario's homepage lists X, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube and Vimeo, plus blogs, forums, news and the web. TikTok and LinkedIn are not on the list. Its help pages narrow the rest (vendor site, October 2026):

Platform What Awario's own pages say it collects
X Brand mentions, with or without your handle; 7 days of history
Reddit Posts across all public subreddits
YouTube Channel names, video descriptions, channel descriptions
Facebook Your connected page, comments on it, posts that tag it; no Groups
Instagram Business and Creator posts with your hashtags, comments that tag you
TikTok Not listed
LinkedIn Not listed

Awario says the Facebook and Instagram limits come from Meta and apply to "all social listening tools using the official Facebook and Instagram APIs." On both, account names are anonymized by default (vendor site, October 2026). So check any vendor's Facebook and Instagram depth before you buy.

Users still feel the missing platforms:

"It would be great if more popular platforms, such as TikTok, could be added for alerts and monitoring."

G2 reviewer on Awario, December 10, 2025

A Trustpilot reviewer who has used Awario daily for over three years says the same: "not all social media platforms are supported yet" (Trustpilot, December 27, 2025).

Count the platforms each entry plan lists#

Count the seven major social platforms each tool's entry plan lists as a source. Awario sits in the middle:

buzzabout Starter 7 Mentionlytics Basic 7 Awario Starter 5 Brand24 Individual 4 Syften Entry 1 F5Bot 1 Talkwalker Alerts 1
Major social platforms listed at the entry plan, of seven (Reddit, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook), vendor sites October 2026

Sources: each vendor's site or pricing page, October 2026, and buzzabout pricing. The chart counts listed platforms, not depth of access. Google Alerts is left out because it searches Google's index, not platform feeds.

For the two platforms Awario skips, see our TikTok social listening and LinkedIn social listening guides.

A mention feed answers the wrong question#

A mention feed answers one question: were we mentioned? That is the right question for a known brand with a reputation to guard. Most small teams have a different problem.

They are not drowning in mentions. They are deciding what to build, what to post and what to put on the sales page. The answers sit in conversations that never name them.

Awario's help center says as much. For "a brand that doesn't have many mentions on the Internet," it warns, "it may take a while for us to get results" (vendor site, October 2026).

What Awario does with the mentions it finds#

Its analysis tools describe the feed. Per its feature pages (vendor site, October 2026):

  • Sentiment. Shares of positive, negative and neutral mentions over time.
  • Topic Cloud. "The most frequently mentioned words, hashtags, and phrases."
  • Insights. Pins that explain spikes in mentions, reach or sentiment.
  • Reports. Mention counts, reach, share of voice and top influencers.

Its Reddit page now promises "AI-powered insights" that "automatically analyze sentiment, and identify trends," and says Awario "groups your mentions by topic" (vendor site, October 2026). Useful, and still bounded by the feed: themes inside the posts your keywords matched. A December 2025 reviewer described the ceiling fairly:

"While the data it provides is still solid and more than acceptable for its price point, it may feel somewhat limited if you are looking for very advanced insights or a particularly high level of analytical depth."

G2 reviewer on Awario, December 17, 2025

Four questions that tell you which job you have#

  1. How many mentions do you get a week? A handful means a quiet feed.
  2. What happens after you read one? A reply is alerts; a decision is research.
  3. Do you need what people say about the category? Alerts only see your keywords.
  4. Would one summary of 1,000 posts beat 30,000 rows? Then you want answers.

If two or more answers point to research, a cheaper alert tool will not close the gap. A different kind of tool will.

For most small teams, the answer is research#

Research starts from a question, not a keyword. "Why do people cancel meal kits?" "What do freelancers hate about invoicing?" The tool collects the conversation and extracts what it means.

That is a different category from listening. Listening tracks the terms you declared and counts them. Social media research extracts the pains, the objections, the audience's own words, and who is speaking.

Different units, different prices#

The units differ, so compare them honestly. Awario's Starter finds up to 30,000 mentions a month for $49 (vendor site, October 2026). buzzabout's Starter gives 2,000 credits for $98, at 1 credit per post collected (pricing).

Per mention, Awario is far cheaper. If volume is the goal, keep it. A small team rarely needs 30,000 rows, though. It needs the ten things those rows keep saying.

Turn your Awario topics into questions#

Paste your topics into any assistant to see what research would ask instead:

Promptcopy this into ChatGPT, Claude, or any LLM
I am moving from keyword alerts to research questions.
Below are my alert topics and the keywords in each.

1. For each topic, name the decision it was meant to inform.
2. Rewrite each one as a plain-language research question,
such as "What do buyers of X complain about before switching?"
3. List the platforms where this audience talks, beyond posts

Awario alternatives compared#

Prices are per month, from vendor pages fetched in October 2026. Sources are in each entry below. "Platforms" counts the seven major social networks each entry plan lists as a source.

Tool Monthly Annual Job it does Platforms listed What you get back
buzzabout $98 $980/yr Research questions 7 of 7 Pains, objections, quotes, live charts
Awario $49 $29/mo, billed yearly Mention alerts 5 of 7 Feed, sentiment, Topic Cloud
Brand24 $249 $199/mo, billed yearly Keyword tracking 4 of 7 (7 from Team) Feed, sentiment; AI Insights from Pro
Mentionlytics $59 (offer) $49/mo, billed yearly (offer) Keyword tracking 7 of 7 Feed, sentiment; AI clustering on Pro

Google Alerts Free Free Web alerts Web index only Email alerts

On monthly billing, buzzabout costs twice Awario's Starter. Four of the alert tools cost less than Awario, and two are free outright:

Brand24 Individual 249 buzzabout Starter 98 Mentionlytics Basic 69 Awario Starter 49 Syften Entry 30 F5Bot Silver 10 Talkwalker Alerts (free) 0 Google Alerts (free) 0
Entry plan list price, USD a month on monthly billing, rounded to the dollar (vendor sites, October 2026)

Sources: vendor pricing pages, October 2026, and buzzabout pricing. Syften Entry is $29.95 and F5Bot Silver $9.99. F5Bot's free plan is for personal use only, so the chart shows Silver. Mentionlytics Basic is $59 on a limited-time offer.

The gap to buzzabout is the price of a different job: answers instead of matches.

#1 · The research pick

1. buzzabout: answers instead of alerts#

buzzabout is a social media research platform, not a keyword tracker. You ask a question in plain language. It collects the conversation from Reddit, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, then tells you what it means.

  1. Ask what you need to decide. "What stops small gyms from switching booking software?"
  2. Pick your platforms. Any of the seven, or all of them.
  3. Read structure, not a feed. Pains, objections, topics and quotes, grouped and counted.
buzzabout homepage: a sphere of social posts above the call to action

What an Awario user gains#

  • Questions instead of topic slots. Ask about the category, not only your name.
  • Pains, objections and buyer language. Mined into patterns, with real quotes.
  • Comments, not just posts. Up to 100 per post, where objections live.
  • Video understood. Speech transcribed, on-screen text read, logos detected, from Starter.
  • Agents that process. New posts become a digest in Slack, email or webhooks.
  • Your AI tools grounded. MCP connectors for Claude and ChatGPT on every plan.

Every post is labeled as it arrives, by emotion, intent, topic, tone and more. So you can cut a month of conversation down to the angry posts about price, then ask the assistant why people are angry.

Listening agents replace the feed#

An Awario alert hands you each match to read. A buzzabout listening agent reads new conversation for you, extracts what you set it to find, such as new pains or competitor complaints, and sends the digest. Starter includes one agent, Pro three, Business unlimited (pricing).

From Pro, audience research profiles the people who commented: AI-estimated age, occupation, interests and OCEAN personality, from public profiles on Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, LinkedIn and Facebook. YouTube commenters are not profiled. Our audience research guide shows the method.

  • Starter caps each research at 250 mentions; CSV export starts on Pro
  • Twice Awario's Starter on monthly billing, and far more per mention

Bigger keyword trackers: Brand24, Mentionlytics#

If alerts really are the job and Awario's gap is TikTok or LinkedIn, these two list both. They work like Awario: declared keywords, mention caps, sentiment. For the wider field, see Brand24 alternatives.

2. Brand24: Awario's model with a wider source list#

Brand24 Individual costs $249 a month, or $199 billed yearly, for 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions a month, 1 user and updates every 12 hours. Brand24 offers a 14-day free trial (vendor site, October 2026).

Its plan table lists Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, news and blogs on every plan. LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok start on Team, at $349 a month or $299 billed yearly (vendor site, October 2026).

AI Insights and AI Topics start on Pro, at $499 a month ($399 yearly), for two projects. Pro also adds an MCP server; the API costs an extra $149 (vendor site, October 2026).

Low-cost alerts for Reddit and communities: Syften, F5Bot#

4. Syften: alerts across Reddit, Hacker News and forums#

Syften watches Reddit, Hacker News, Indie Hackers, Stack Exchange, GitHub, Slack communities, Discourse forums, podcasts and blogs. X and YouTube are paid monthly add-ons, available on Standard and PRO (vendor site, October 2026).

Entry costs $29.95 a month for 3 community filters, 100 results a day and a 7-day archive. Standard, at $49.95, adds AI filtering and Slack. PRO, at $119.95, adds full history, webhooks and MCP (vendor site, October 2026).

The 14-day trial runs on PRO with no card, and shows who mentioned you in the last 60 days (vendor site, October 2026). Like Awario, it finds mentions; reading them is your job.

Free web alerts: Talkwalker Alerts, Google Alerts#

If the honest answer is that you only need to know when your name appears, you may not need to pay. These two are free. Both send alerts, not analysis, and neither lists TikTok, LinkedIn or Instagram as a source.

6. Talkwalker Alerts: free alerts on the web and X#

Talkwalker Alerts emails you new mentions from news, blogs, discussion forums and X. You choose result types, one of 22 languages, and "As it happens" or a digest. Boolean operators narrow the query (vendor site, October 2026).

Alerts arrive by email, RSS or Slack, and Talkwalker says over 600,000 users rely on it. Talkwalker itself is now Lumen by Talkwalker, part of Hootsuite; our Talkwalker alternatives guide covers the paid platform.

What about just asking ChatGPT?#

Some teams leaving Awario skip tools and ask ChatGPT or Claude what people say about their market. With web search on, it reads a handful of pages that happen to rank and summarizes them with confidence.

That is a sample you did not choose. It cannot tell you whether a complaint appears in 4 posts or 400, or who wrote them. Counting needs a collected set of posts, not a page of search results.

Ground it instead. buzzabout's MCP connectors, on every plan, let Claude or ChatGPT query your collected, labeled conversations. The assistant you already use then answers from evidence.

How to choose: start from your question#

Pick by the question, not the feature list. If the question is "were we mentioned?", buy the cheapest alert that covers your platforms. If it is "what do we make or say next?", you need research.
